Sen. Amy Klobuchar to Join Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe at Demofest 2018
The Kansas Democratic Party issued the following statement announcing the addition of Sen. Amy Klobuchar to Demofest 2018:
Topeka, KS – U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is teaming up with former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe at Demofest to kick off Kansas’ critical general election season!
Demofest 2018 will take place at the Hyatt Regency Wichita from August 24-26. Sen. Klobuchar, Gov. McAuliffe, and the Democratic nominee for Kansas governor will speak at the August 25 evening banquet. The full schedule, plus ticket and hotel information, is available at KansasDems.org/Demofest. All events other than the luncheon and banquet are free to attend.
“This year everything will be on the line as Americans make a choice about the direction of our country,” Sen. Klobuchar said. “Nowhere is that choice more important than in America’s heartland. In Kansas there are important races up and down the ballot, from state house races to the competitive governor’s race, and I’m looking forward to joining Democrats in Wichita as we work together to win in 2018 and beyond.”
In 2006, Amy Klobuchar became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in Minnesota’s history. Pushing through the gridlock, grandstanding, and the grip of big money on politics, Klobuchar works hard to get results for Minnesotans. In the Senate, she is a leading voice for middle-class families and rural America, fighting to allow Medicare to negotiate for cheaper prescription drugs, and to make sure that all workers are ready for 21st century jobs, regardless of where they live.
“No one does as much for working families as Sen. Klobuchar. Her advocacy for important issues such as affordable prescription drugs, consumer protections, and economic growth reflects the same common sense approach Kansas Democrats champion,” said KDP Executive Director Ethan Corson. “That’s why we’re so excited to have Sen. Klobuchar joining us this year. The fact that two national leaders will be at Demofest is a sign the country knows Kansas Democrats are on the march.”
