The Democratic Gubernatorial Primary Comes to Western Kansas

January 6, 2018

Next Democratic gubernatorial candidate forum will be held at Colby Community College

Topeka, KS – On Saturday, January 20, 2018, the Thomas County Democratic Party will sponsor the Colby Democratic gubernatorial candidate forum. The event will be held at the Frahm Theatre and Cultural Arts Center, located on the Colby Community College campus.

Confirmed forum candidates include former Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer, Sen. Laura Kelly, former Kansas Agriculture Secretary Joshua Svaty, Kansas House Minority Leader Jim Ward, Arden Andersen, and Robert Klingenberg.

“It’s exciting that all of our candidates will be coming to Western Kansas,” Kansas Democratic Party Executive Director Ethan Corson said Saturday. “Democrats have to compete all over the state, not just in a handful of counties. This forum is a sign of that commitment.”

The disastrous effects of Gov. Sam Brownback’s radical agenda and ultra-conservatives in the Kansas Legislature ripple across the state of Kansas. Kansas Democrats are fighting for Kansans across the entire state – including Western Kansas – not just in the northeast. Fresh off the Kansas Democratic Party’s success in the 2017 elections, one thing stands out more than anything else: Kansans will not receive the innovative, equitable and responsible leadership Democrats have provided in Kansas if Republicans continue to run unopposed. We believe that Kansans deserve more.
