Statement on House GOP’s Approval of $1.5 Trillion Tax Scam
Topeka, KS – After Brownback’s failed tax experiment, you might think that Kansas’ congressional delegation would know better than to approve a $1.5 trillion giveaway to corporations and the rich. That it would be a nonstarter to eliminate deductions that Kansas teachers, students, and seniors depend on. That giving them a tax hike would just be wrong. That secretly drafting and revising the bill without a single hearing or consideration of public input would be an unprecedented breach of norms and accountability.
We’ve learned to not get our hopes up too high.
Representatives Roger Marshall, Lynn Jenkins, Kevin Yoder, and Ron Estes may not have truthfully explained the impact of this bill to middle class Kansans, but if it becomes law, they’ll sure feel it.
Republican leaders in Washington and Topeka have repeatedly proven that they are unable to act in the best interests of everyday Kansans. We believe Kansans deserve more.
