Democrats Taking a Stand for Latino Veterans
Topeka, KS – Over the weekend, our Democratic leaders took a stand for Latino Veterans. When lawmakers asked Governor Brownback to honor Latino servicemen and women, his office declined. Upset that these veterans wouldn’t get the honor they deserve, Kansas Democrats fought back.
Representatives Ponka-We Victors (D-Wichita), Louis Ruiz (D-Kansas City) and John Alcala (D-Topeka), along with Kansas Democratic Party National Committeewoman Teresa Krusor, urged Brownback to sign the proclamation that would honor Latino veterans for their service – and on Friday, they won the fight.
As Democrats, we always fight for every voice to be heard and every story to be told. We appreciate the sacrifices made by all the men and women who have served to protect our country.
